Meet a Socialist – September 2024

by Milena Germon (pictured on right)Maine Ever since I was little, I wanted to know everything about how the world worked. I had endless questions, and much to my family’s and school’s dismay, I was never satisfied by the final answer that “life isn’t fair” and “injustice is just a part of the system weContinue reading “Meet a Socialist – September 2024”

Solidarity with Bangladeshi Students & Workers

The global crises driven by capitalism and imperialism have converged in recent years to spark revolutionary moments around the world. The student-led mass protests in Bangladesh are a reaction to many of the same material forces as in nearby Sri Lanka, where the 2022 mass movement ousted the president. High inflation, electricity blackouts, shortages of fuel and other basic necessities have ravaged the lives of working people in both countries – meanwhile, the capitalist class and capitalist politicians who are responsible for these conditions have enormously profited.

Harris Will Continue Representing the Capitalists, not the Working Class

Biden’s campaign was on track to crash and burn after his debate with Trump. Despite leading Democrats – including so-called progressive or “left” Democrats like Sanders and AOC – backing Biden to the bitter end. Press conferences and a high profile television interview a week after the debate couldn’t save him. Biden’s interview performance reinforced the popular perception that he was losing it – both his mind and the election. These events triggered a sharp pause in big money donations from corporate execs and other capitalists into the Biden/Harris campaign and Political Action Committees (PACs) supporting it.

Why the Working Class Should Vote for Jill Stein and Cornel West

Working-class people in the US need an alternative to the two pro-corporate political parties. We have to build opposition to the Biden/Harris and Trump administrations’ support for the war in Gaza, the cost-of-living-crisis, and attacks on workers and immigrants’ rights. Despite claiming to be against the attacks on LGBTQ+ people and women by the Supreme Court and Trump administration, the Democratic Party (DP) has failed to deliver national protections for either group.

Stop the Genocide in Gaza, Fight for a Workers’ Party

As the Israeli state’s genocidal invasion of the Gaza Strip nears its one-year mark, growing unpopularity forced incumbent Joe Biden to step down from the 2024 Democratic ticket, partly fueled by his administration’s support for the onslaught against Gaza. Despite replacing Biden with current Vice President Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate, the Democratic Party refuses to change its position supporting the Israeli state as US imperialism’s foothold in the Middle East.
