The Trump regime is escalating its rampage against the working class here in the U.S., in Iran, and around the world. Trump’s right-wing, corporate administration has plunged the U.S. and other countries into another brutal war for oil. Every day the government spends billions on the war, including arming the Israeli military and joining with it to rain bombs and missiles down on the Iranian and Lebanese people. Thousands are dead, millions displaced. The majority of Americans do NOT support this war.
Trump’s useless war is disrupting the production of oil, gas, energy, and food. It’s driving up the cost of basic needs. A world-wide recession is possible. In the U.S., inflated costs in housing, healthcare, and education are accelerating, made worse by the war. Unemployment increases, wages fall further behind inflation. Both corporate parties, the Republicans and Democrats, and their billionaire backers push endless piles of dollars into their forever wars. They add billions more for repression by racist, militarized police forces like ICE. But they severely ration, cut, or eliminate social spending for healthcare, childcare, housing, education, SNAP benefits, etc. Trump and the Republican and Democratic Parties are all increasingly unpopular.
Escalate protests, organize strikes! We need a working-class political party!
We have powerful tools available to us. We can organize sustained mass protests, occupations, general strikes, and a workers party. We need a new political party of, and for, the working class, democratically accountable to its members, and independent of corporate money and interests. Organizing for a workers’ party can help coordinate strike action, build upout the labor movement with mass union organizing, and bring workers’ power to the fight against Trump, against the war, and against ICE. There are calls for a general strike on May 1st, International Workers Day. May 1st could be a first day of action in a movement for a real general strike.
- Stop the war on Iran! No more violence and death for the Iranian people. No more lives wasted in a billionaires’ war for oil profits.
- Slash the military budget! Money for jobs, wages, healthcare, housing, education.
- Abolish ICE! Stop the attacks and terror against immigrants and working-class communities. Close the detention camps and lock up killer ICE agents.
- Overturn the Taft-Hartley Act, pass the PRO Act! Lift bans on the right to strike. Abolish right-to-work laws and restore union rights to federal workers.
- Raise the federal minimum wage to $30/hr.
- For Price controls on necessities like groceries, healthcare, insurance, rents, mortgages, home prices, utilities, and more.
Our work and our environment can no longer be used as a profit-machine for the capitalist class. We need to take political and economic power away from Trump, the billionaires, and their two political parties. We need revolutionary socialism: the working class democratically controlling and planning the resources and labor power of society for the needs of all people.
