INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2024: Solidarity with Gaza and all victims of war!

The potential power of working-class women in the US is huge. In the last 10 years we have seen mass demonstrations against Donald Trump, in defense of women’s and abortion rights, and opposing violence against women. Working-class women are playing major roles in recent strikes and unionization battles in the education, healthcare, service, entertainment, and airline sectors.

The Israeli state’s ongoing genocidal assault on Gaza— backed up by the US government and both pro-imperialist corporate parties — must be opposed by working women and people worldwide. 80% of fatalities in Gaza are women and children and ⅕ of Gazan women are malnourished. Without functioning hospitals, clean water, and medical supplies, Palestinian women are forced to give birth in tents and restrooms. Electricity shortages are killing newborns in hospital incubators.

Regular protests continue to be organized opposing the war and calling for the US government to withdraw its support for Israeli state terror. The women’s movement has played a key role in anti-war protests of the past, from World War 1 to the Vietnam War. With approximately a quarter of the world living in “conflict” zones, we need to build a strong, international, anti-war women’s movement.

International Women’s Day was created by the global socialist movement in 1910. The socialist women’s movement has always fought back against imperialist wars. This International Women’s Day should be a day of protest against the imperialist war on Gaza.

We demand:

  1. Immediate, permanent ceasefire! Release all hostages and political prisoners. Withdraw all US support for Israeli state terror.
  2. Run, campaign, and vote for independent, anti-war candidates, to start building a workers’ party in the US to oppose imperialism! No support for Democrats or Republicans.
  3. End Israeli occupation of Palestine. Build up working-class resistance movements in both Palestine and Israel to fight nationalism and religious fundamentalism, including systematic women’s oppression.
  4. Fight for socialism in the Middle East! Rebuild the Palestinian and all war-torn territories to a good standard of living. Mobilize the resources of the region and world under a democratic economic plan based on cooperation not imperialist competition and exploitation.
