For strikes and walkouts by union workers to stop weapons shipments

Rise Up for Gaza protests in Worcester, MA and Cambridge, MA (Aug 9, 2025 & August 10, 2025)
The Israeli state backed by US government military aid and political support is escalating the starvation and genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Netanyahu announced plans for a full military seizure of Gaza. 200 Palestinians have died from famine, including 96 children. A third of those in Gaza are now going multiple days without eating. The Israeli military is shooting at Palestinians seeking food at orchestrated “aid sites” and have wounded over 1,300 and killed at least 28. Meanwhile, the Netanyahu regime plans to expand further into the West Bank and take over 3,000 acres of Palestinian land to establish 4,000 settlement units.
There is growing mass outrage against the ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinian people. Protests in support of Palestinians have been severely repressed around the world, with students, youth, and workers attacked by police, suspended, fired, and even jailed. But the protest movements are reigniting. In Australia, 300,000 protestors marched on August 3rd against the genocide. In Israel, the largest protest in months, involving tens of thousands, erupted, calling on Netanyahu not to expand Israel’s aggression in Gaza and to release the hostages and stop the war.
Netanyahu’s plans to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people and annex their lands are not a given. Mass pressure can put a hold on his agenda and stop the US government from enabling the Israeli state. Working people can build mass protests and strike action to stop arms production and shipments. There have been calls for one-day general strikes which could put a serious check on Netanyahu and the proxy war against Palestinians being waged by successive US presidential administrations.
For the anti-war movement to win, the working class internationally needs to build political independence and cut ties to corporate political parties that support and fund the ongoing genocide. In the US, we need to start organizing a workers’ party that can oppose the war-mongering Democratic and Republican corporate parties. A workers’ party could help build a mass movement to end the war against Palestinians and organize solidarity for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and a Palestinian state.
The Independent Socialist Group, in political solidarity with the Committee for a Workers International, calls for:
- An immediate ceasefire and permanent withdrawal of all Israeli military from Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Syria, and Lebanon.
- An end to all US military aid and weapons sales to the Israeli military. For strikes and walkouts by union workers to stop weapons shipments.
- Immediately lift the blockade on Gaza.
- Release all political prisoners and hostages!
- End the New McCarthyism! Protect the rights of US students and workers to speak out and protest.
- The right to national self-determination for the Palestinian people, including to form an independent Palestinian state
- Unite the anti-war protests and organize general strikes in Israel with the Palestinian and Arab-Israeli communities to topple the Netanyahu government. For building new, independent workers’ parties in Israel and Palestine to end the genocide and democratically plan for the return of refugees, reconstruction, and statehood in the interest of the working-class.
- International socialist struggle across the region against the dictatorial capitalist states and imperialism. For a voluntary socialist confederation of the Middle East.
